Mixed phase / domain wall

↑ ↑ ↓

The seam where AFM meets FM. A short transition window with optical properties of its own.

Build on:Antiferromagnetism (AFM),Ferromagnetism (FM)

The seam between worlds

Whenever an AFM region meets an FM region, the boundary contains a small zone where neither classification fits perfectly. The simulator calls this the Mixed phase and gives it its own refractive index (and its own purple color in the layer strip).

Where it shows up

Try the "Domain" preset and look for the purple bands at the edges of the FM (red) regions:

AFM 13Mixed 2FM 0Hover a cell to see the 3-layer classification window.
Mixed (purple) appears wherever AFM meets FM. Hover a cell to see the 3-layer window the classifier uses.
Key takeaways
  • Mixed = transition zone at every AFM–FM boundary.
  • Has its own refractive index, defined by the 3-cell rule.
